[Yep. Already regretting it. He can already see it in his mind's eye. This isn't going to go well. And by that, he means they're likely gonna have Fun with it later.]

Says the guy who prefers it over certain other types of alcohol.

[Aside for wine. He squints at his longtime friend even more. Uh-huh. He will believe that, sure. When pigs fly.]

[He will make sure to create special nights with the "Pun-Off" competition. Would an entire cake be enough of a prize for the winner? He'd have Ebony record everything.]

Indeed. Rum is, next to wine, the only alcoholic beverage that I do not mind.

[We do not speak of beer.]

Do not give me that look, [Ignis chuckles,] I really am glad if I could help you relax a little. Today, [he nods,] is your day. And you should enjoy it however you wish.

[Don't look at him; that's your decision. You're the cafe owner, Ignis.]

So, why the innocent act?

[We definitely do not speak of beer. He says, taking a small sip of the punch.]

Because Gladio mostly drinks beer, Prompto isn't picky and I'm pretty sure Ravus sticks to wine. [YOU HAVE TRAPPED YOURSELF, GOOD SIR.] And I will, though guess I'd better cut that cake before I get tipsy.

[He rolls his eyes. Hey, at least he's also being responsible.]

[You will always be greeted with well versed good morning pun.]

An advisor should keep up the appearances, correct? [He crosses his hands, amused-] What would it look like- Royal Advisor purposely spiked his Majesty's drink. That doesn't sound very flattering.

[There's a soft click of the tongue,] I wish we could have Gladio embrace more... 'tastier' drinks.

[Ah, the cake. He leans over to whisper "conspiratorially"-] You want to go for the top one. It has a new blackberry and blueberry filling.

It's not spiking if it was supposed to be there in the first place. [It's a well-mannered tease, before he shrugs.] Eh, one day. Maybe.

[He pauses, eyeing Ignis with slight suspicion. While he has his attention, something about that whisper...]

Did you do something? [He whispers back.]

I will keep that in mind for next time, [Ignis offers with a smile. Yes. Next time... There will be next time.]

Ah. Well. [Ignis keeps his voice low still,] I just believe that the top is the best part of the cake.

[It also looks like a sunset when you cut off the piece. From yellow at the bottom, changing colors through orange, red, purple, blue and black. He's very proud of it.]

....Next time. [Oh sweet Shiva, what has he gotten himself into? He groans, leaning back as his head follows the rest of him. Not enough to fall over backwards, but still.]

Fine, sure. Whatever. [He won't argue the point. The cake is stunning and he almost feels bad about it. All the same, he rises to his feet and sets his drink down. He'll come back to it later.] Hope you took a picture of it, at least.

[Because it gon b cut in t-minus 30 seconds.]

[Ignis plans to prepare plenty of dishes and drinks in future and they all need taste testing. Noct will help out with that, won't he?

He smiles and raises as well, going to get the cutting knife (large) from the nearby table and brings it over, along with some paper plates for the cake.]

I have. I believe Prompto took a few of them as well. [Because- it's Prompto. He offers the knife to Noct-] All yours.

[...Yes. Yes he will. Why is this even in question?

He sighs, carefully taking the knife from Ignis. Just that fond kind of exasperation, nothing too major. If Prompto hadn't been taking photos, he'd eat that one silly hat he has for his casual attire whenever it appears in the Dream Width.]

Right. [And that certainly is him cutting into the top level.]

[He's just checking. Some of the meals might have green hazards.

There might be sighing involved, but Ignis just knows Noct is eager to cut into the cake. He has paper plate prepared once Noctis pulls out the slice from the top. True to Ignis' word, the layers of the cake change like a small sunset, and he's actually really proud of it.]

Here. The birthday boy keeps the first slice, [he chuckles, offering the plate.]

[You come into his house. On this, the day of his daughter's wedding the 21st anniversary of his birth...

And yes, he is eager to cut it. Why wouldn't he be? Yet he still tries to act the part of the put off royal. For about five seconds longer, at any rate. Which is when he sees what the cake does and his eyes widen.]

Whoa. [Congrats, Iggy. You got him to pause and admire it. A+

He grins, placing the slice on the offered cake and offering the knife back in trade - handle-first.]

[There might be slight, proud, happy flush in Ignis' cheeks. Impressing Noct isn't an easy feat (then again, it's his own fault for that so...). He accepts the knife with a smile and cuts himself a slice as well.]

It took some time, but I am very happy with the results, [Ignis says after leaving the knife to the side and getting his own treat.]
