"Yep," there's a definite bitterness and self-deprecation in Futaba's voice, saying in tone if not in words that she agreed wholeheartedly. A very obvious lie, a very stupid lie. One that a part of her (a very Specific Part) had always known for what it was. But she'd been thirteen, and horrified, and immediately thrust to an until-then distant family who was all too happy to accept that Wakaba Isshiki's fatherless child had been the cause of her death. It'd all been a matter of psychology from there.

"All I know is that cases of mental shutdowns started happening early 2014. My mom died on August 21st of that year. It... was early enough that everybody pretty much accepted the cover-up, and nobody ever thought to check back," she paused, hands still tight in fists.
"The thing is... the only Persona user that we know of for sure outside of the Phantom Thieves is Goro Akechi," she lets those words hang in the air for a second, "And we know for a fact that he's been using the Metaverse a lot longer than he claimed to us that he has been."
It's not solid proof. She doesn't have that yet. But the implications are all leading in one major direction.
