EXPOSITION OF THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHT
— Third District || August 18th – August 25th || 10:00 to 23:00 —
The museums in the 03rd District are open to visitors and are home to many relics predating written history. A lot of those old relics are items of archaeological interest or look like they could be really advanced technologies if they weren't broken beyond repair. Prototypes for Magitek Armor of a new age are exposed, alongside fragments of what are believed to belong to the legendary WEAPONs, machines that belong to the same category than Ultima WEAPON.

The section for Eidolons has all the Eidolons the characters have met so far as well as others yet undiscovered displaying on a gigantic wall-covering painting. The largest Eidolon on the painting appears to be a dragon some characters may recognize as Bahamut, he is so big he dwarves the other Eidolons and should one pay attention, his wings are actually the background of the painting.

Interestingly, someone has doodled something that looks like Ultros over Leviathan on the painting...

SUNNY STARLIGHT
— Ninth District || August 22nd – August 25th || 07:00 to 19:00 —
Do you really believe because it’s summer, you can escape the beauty and magnificence of Christmas? Think again. There is one thing all the nations on Vaikuntha are of one mind on: the wait from the December 26th of a year to the December 24th of the next is too long. This is why a band of Moogles, Lalafells, Bangaas and Zoras from all across the Empire have occupied half of the Ninth District. Decorated trees, Christmas music, people dressed as Santa Claus (and probably dying because of the heat), fake gift boxes as well as a very large and pretty box for donations all await you!

Kids below the age of 15 will all receive a gift if they come: plushies made in the likeness of the main villains of numbered Final Fantasy games! And when you press the button hidden on their stomach, they speak a random line. Who doesn't want a Sephiroth plushie saying "You are a puppet" or a Jecht one repeating "Cry, cry, cry" all day long?

It's like a dream come true!

MIDNIGHT AIRSHIP
— Twelfth District || August 20th – August 24th || 23:00 to 06:00 —
For the late sleepers, it is possible to board a special airship prepared by Hypellos to party up in the sky. The Airship flies all around the Imperial Territories and should characters so desire, they can ask to stop by one of the two other cities. Whether they want to dance, to eat or to enjoy the view, it might be a very fun and relaxing activity. It is also a very good place from where to watch the fireworks… Or to scout for an incoming Tarutaru and her weapon toy.

Note that all the personnel onboard are Hypellos. They are very serviceable and nice, but can try the patience of those not used to their accent. Of note, one Hypello is green and appears to be angrily stalking anyone heading for the "Sunny Starlight" event. He is quite sneaky though and will always manage to get away before being approached.

MOGNET EXPOSITION
— Ninth District || August 22nd – August August 25th || 07:00 to 19:00 —
The half of the Ninth District not occupied by Christmas fanatics is occupied by the Moogles working for the Imperial section of Mognet. Split for the regular Mognet for a decade, Imperial Mognet has managed to thrive. Imperial iMog Slates have all sorts of functions other iMog Slates could only dream of, such as games, grammar check and that kind of stuff. All of those things can be visited at the exposition! Not only that, but the Moogles are also putting on display things that have nothing to do with Mognet but more to do with Moogles themselves.

Come and visit the exposition to discover the rich and amazing culture of the Moogles! Kupo Nuts, Fur Dye, Fake Kupo Nuts, Pom Shiner, Carved Kupo Nuts, booklets titled "How to Use Your Cuteness to Exploit People," Mognet Bags, Deluxe Kupo Nuts, Sheets to Prepare Future Strikes, Mog Beds, Explosive Kupo Nuts, Kupo Champagne—

There is no end to what might be learned from Moogles!

CHOCOBO RACES
— Sen Riqeaux || August 23rd || 15:00 to 20:00 —
A Chocobo Race will be held all around the city! Will you compete? Shall you win? There are no prizes as all the money earned through the race is given to the Safety of Sparks Golsaucia movement. Those participating can bring their own Chocobo or get a temporary one from the people organizing the race. It will be a very bad Chocobo though, so they shouldn’t expect to win… Beware the Hamsters and Marlboro during the race though. It’d be a real shame to end up getting eaten while racing.

SHOPPING
— City's Outskirts || August 18th – August 25th || 07:00 - 20:00 —
On the city's outskirts are all manners of stalls by shoppers eager to make some money. You can find everything there: plushies, food, clothes, souvenirs, books and even cosmetics. Why, one of the merchant is even selling contact lenses covering nearly all of the rainbow's spectrum aside from green while another sells all kind of swords, even the supposed legendary Excalibur! This might be the perfect place to take on O'aka's Quest if you so wish!

MINI SPARKS GOLSAUCIA
— Eleventh District || August 19th – August 24th || Anytime —
Specially for the festival, stallholders from Sparks Golsaucia were invited and brought a few attractions to display what they can do. Noticeably, there is a shooting stand—Once again, a treasure chest game where characters are presented with ten chests and can open only one-- Prizes range from one Gils to gigantic plushies. The novelty this year is something called the "Kupo Boxes," Boxes you punch open and you get something: perhaps something wonderful like a 1 million gil ticket, more often than not though absolutely nothing. Will you try your chance? Be careful, your wallet might not survive it.

TOURNAMENTS
— Tenth District || August 19th – August 23rd || 10:00/15:00/20:00 —
There is a Blitzball Competition taking place during the Festival of Light! Characters are free to go and watch the matches, so long as they can pay for the tickets. At the same time, a Triple Triad competition is taking place. Characters are free to enter the Triple Triad tournament if they so wish. Characters who know Triple Triads have decent chances to win. And even if your characters lose, what matters is trying, right? There are no prizes to be won, as all money goes to the Triple Triad For Everyone associations.

CULINARY ATTRACTIONS
— Second District || August 18th – August 25th || 12:00 to 13:30 / 19:00 to 21:00 —
What would a festival be without free food and banquets? Not really a festival. In the fourteenth district, there is a banquet and many stands held by people from all over the Empire. All kind of food can be found here-- Refined food, pastries, cakes, cooked meals, etc. It's virtually impossible not to find something to like in all of this, and it's all free! There are, however, guards standing around on the lookout for Gourmands who would be tempted to ruin the fun for everyone. After what happened two years ago, better be careful.

THE OPERA
— Ninth District || August 18th - August 24th || 22:00 —
There is an opera every day for all to see for free, titled "A Goddess's Tears." It is a retelling of the creation myth, but shown from the (presumed) perspective of the Goddess of Death. The play depicts the Goddess as someone who started out as a rather sweet person, but whose life took such terrible turns she wished to die and resented life. Yet, death was too scary of a prospect for her and she couldn't choose what was better, Life or Death. As the play progresses, she decides both are equally terrible and resolves to create a world where those very notions shall no longer exist.

As the play unfolds, toward the ends the story becomes what people are more familiar with. However, rather than letting her die wordlessly, the four heroes appease the Goddess's soul by singing. As the four heroes sing, the Goddess smiles and sheds a single tear before passing away. It is said the play is very emotional, sensible people might want to pass on it.

HOUSING
— Fourteenth District || August 17th - August 27th || Anytime —
Before, after and during the Festival of Light, the characters will all need a place where they can rest. Thankfully for them, people coming with the Curti Center delegation are all given the keys to stay in one of the abandoned houses in the 14th District. Truth to be told however, those house look anything but abandoned. Why, it's as if people had been living in them up until very recently, given how either clean and ordered they are for some, or chaotic and neglected they are for others (Characters who were present in Melodies of Life will be able to notice the houses are nearly identical to what they were just before the time skip during endgame, though there are a few eerie differences).

At least, it's a good place to sleep!

ARDYNIAN DISCOVERY
— Fifteenth District || August 18th – August 25th || 10:00, 15:00, 20:00 —
Everyday, it will be possible to get wheeled motor vehicle driven by imperial soldiers and go visit one of the other cities, case in point, Ardynia! Not much is done over there for the Festival of Light, but it is worth checking out, if only for the Wizard and Jester Jobs. It is a thriving city with people from all over the Empire, and it appears to be something of a shopping center for the imperial region.

And most importantly, discover the official headwear of Ardynia: the Fedora! It is said Archaeologists have imported this fashion trend to Ardynia when they pass by, but none know whether this is true or not. While most citizens have enough senses not to actually wear this dreaded hat, those who do wear it really look dumb doing so. And those who don't look dumb look like they'd make jokes about your pet's untimely demise while you're still crying about it.

Perhaps is is best to stay away.

PARASRAYA DISCOVERY
— Fifteenth District || August 18th – August 25th || 10:00, 15:00, 20:00 —
Everyday, it will be possible to get wheeled motor vehicle driven by imperial soldiers and go visit one of the other cities, case in point, Parasraya! Not much is done over there for the Festival of Light, but it is worth checking out, if only for the Archaeologist and Catmancer Jobs, as well as the Weapon Master Association. It is a technologically advanced yet small and cozy city...

... If it wasn't for a tragedy plaguing the city: cats, cats everywhere. If the meowing doesn't kill you, the constant flow of cats asking to be pet, fed and to sit on your lap might. You may even encounter a few tired citizens paying you money to take care of the cat infestation around their house. Others however are really defensive of the cats and will hunt anyone trying to bring harm to them. Of course, the source of all these cat-related troubles can be traced back to the origins of the Catmancer guild.

But, perhaps it is a story best left for another day.

FIREWORKS
— First District || August 18th – August 24th || Midnight —
Fireworks will be launched from the Castle starting 00:00 and will end at 01:00, everyday of the Festival. No matter where you are in the city, anyone should be able to watch them with ease if they so wish. Unfortunately, it means falling asleep before midnight may be a bit hard with all the noise. On the 25th, characters will be with dining with the Empress as the fireworks happen.

Bonnie fluttered up, peering over Reno's shoulder at the doll he was focused on. Her brow furrowed at the sinister voice that burbled out of it.

"That toy....that's not what Mister Sephiroth sounded like at all, kupo~"

[While Baiken tries to get a grip on herself, Takeshi doesn't look at her. She gave off the whole 'proud warrior' type vibe and doubts she wants to be seen like this in the first place.

He doesn't want others to see him like this, either. He removes a simple green stone pendant that hung around his neck on a simple chain, holding onto it as he stares at it in a trembling open palm. He didn't used to get so affected by this, so... why now? Was it something his memories dragged back up?]

You too, huh. [There's no judgment; it's all he can do to keep his voice quiet and steady.]

"They have the same names here as they do on Crystallis. And some of the other Heroes back in my world said they knew the names from their worlds too. It's weird that our worlds are so similar, but maybe there's a reason they're all connected that way, kupo." Mary's world wasn't one of those, but it was something she heard from some of the other Heroes from time to time, and now she was understanding how they felt.

As Clarus moved to the other side of the exposition the moogle shivered a bit, "I hope not, kupo. Seeing just one in operation was enough for me..."

[ Regis does know the face, and the name. He knows that Shiro has changed, too, but there hasn't exactly been an opportunity for an in-depth talk. There's always been something else going on.

And yet, here they are. Staring at an artwork that is making Regis narrow his eyes. (He doesn't frown. But it's a near thing.) ]

Not all the names, no. And I wouldn't be sure it was Ultros. All things considered, I'm not sure he has the power to pull that stint on his own. Which means that this might have just been a reflection of the state of reality. Perhaps they can order restoring it to its original appearance now.

[~~At least those two are technically younger than he is in appearance, so... there's that?~~ His gaze follows hers, and for a brief moment... He can almost imagine Minato taking a nap in the garden. Just like he always did and usually was when he'd come back from work.

It feels like a lifetime ago. Maybe that's why seeing this now is so painful.]

Not really. For the longest time, it was normal. [He's never really talked about this with anyone, and yet...] In the world I was in before Crystallis, we all lived in dormitories. There was never a moment there wasn't someone outside. So if anything, it was weird having somewhere so quiet.

[Which he'd only started getting used to, really. He shrugs.]

...Don't have much of an opinion just yet, but I- couldn't help but notice it looks a lot like Aqures Ixen did, before the end. [He didn't really speak much about it to Lean. He never thought it'd come up.] It's different in some ways, but... much of the city layout is the same.

[It seems that Takeshi isn't the only one who had such an idea. The moogle is perched, partially clinging to the top of one of the ship masts. It's dangerous and scary but...even at night the view is beautiful. The wind is punishing but it's refreshing.

She isn't suited for this sort of thing but her ninja asterisk is hard at work helping her out and for the moment she feels just a bit closer to her missing friend.

When she sees the young man making his way upward she raises a paw in greeting, smiling and happy for the familiar company.]

Kupoooo

[The moogle wriggles and shivers a bit at Papyrus's eager comments about the WEAPONS. She's sure he only means well but the memories that come back to her and the feelings that they make bounce around in her little fluffball of a body can't simply be ignored.]

It was enough seeing just one of them in action, kupo. I don't need to see that a third time, kupo.

Kupoooo~ Heeeeelp~

[The soft whine floats up from the crowd of cats and seems to be moving left to right in front of Kanji. It's a bit hard to spot with all the furballs gathered, but one of the larger cats seems to have a decidedly not kitten danging by it's scruff.]

[Bonnie happens to be fluttering nearby and she can't help but comment.]

Kupo, the slates are nice but nothing beats the feeling of receiving a written letter. Or delivering one, kupo!

[She says this but she and Kuvon have been doing laps around the expo and have amassed a nice collection of bagged and wearable swag.]

[Noctis chuckles, moving to pet the little white kitten who seems to have taken a shine to him. So much that she starts climbing his arm and resting on his shoulder. Aww.]

Guess some things don't change no matter the world. [Though it had only been one cat at a time back home... Maybe it's simply because of the increased population?] Yours isn't anything to sniff at, either.

Bonnie was watching the fireworks from not too far away. She lay on her back, the grass cool on her back as she had her paws outstretched. It almost felt like she was flying through the sky and the fabulous show going on above her.

"Kupoooo~"

[Okay, he can't help but want to step in there. So, if allowed, Noctis will reach up to remove the feline from her head. Picking it up by the scruff of the neck like a misbehaving kitten.]

Alright, little troublemaker. That's enough. [He puts them down on the ground.]

Oh? Then I guess you don't wanna go check on the chocobos?

[As much as he loves how Prompto nuzzles into his neck, they... really should get going. Before they end up sitting through this a second or third time.]

"Kupo...that looks like Sephiroth, but I don't remember him ever sounding like that. He definitely never said anything like that, kupo." Bonnie frowned. Why was someone trying to make out one of the Heroes of Crystallis, especially one of the ones who sacrificed themselves to save everyone and everything, as a villain?

Bonnie froze as Regis called out to her, clinging onto the pipe she was trying to climb up to reach a higher perch. She remained still, trying maybe to shake the man's impression that he saw anyone there....but she didn't keep herself with the illusion that she hadn't been caught for long.

"Ah...yes kupo...it's very nice..."

[What's the best part about being a moogle with a moogle companion? Twice as many bags of swag and kupo nuts. But Bonnie pauses as she hears Futaba talking to herself about the slate.]

Kupo. I could stand for a better screen on mine. It always seems to think my paws are two or three fingers at once. It's really tricky to use it the way I want to, kupo.

"Don't get the wrong idea, I like blitzball, but I prefer it when it's more competitive," a shrug.

"Don't get the wrong idea. I've heard all of the stories about this guy and I know he's a creep and a sleeze, but I also looked Leviathan dead in the eye and saw someone who's capable of fighting their own battles. If she wants to strike that bastard down, she will. But if you really think this is worth it, I'm not gonna stop you..."

Kupoooo~

[The soft whine of a moogle floats up from the masses of cats that have gathered around Newt.]

Ahhh~ I appreciate this but please let me go, kupo~

[It's hard to spot her amongst all the other furry bodies, but once you know what you're looking for it's easy enough to spot Bonnie's pom and wings, not to mention her hood. The poor moogle has been pinned down by a large mommycat who is currently in the process of vigorously giving the moogle a bath.]

Help~

Bonnie was happy to see Cor again. He'd very much gained her respect after his strong leadership during their recent adventure and she was about to say hello when she overheard his question. She stopped and paused in a quick debate whether or not to say anything.

"Kupo, um, be sure to get a sturdy one, but not too heavy, kupo." She fluttered closer and peered at the stand, "Oh, most of these are just novelty letter openers, kupo."

[Not a bad comparison, that's for sure. He'd even agree if it was said aloud. His friends always give him grief for how he behaves when dazed, confused, or drunk, but... sometimes Ignis could be just as bad in his own way.

If not worse. He smiles faintly as Shiro leans into him slightly, only moving so he'd be a bit more comfortable.]

Taking up my habits now, huh. That's fine. I won't tell your former piloting instructor. [And now his former instructor too, now that he's joined the 'officially licensed' club, but details! Who needs those pesky things!] I'd be surprised if I couldn't. Especially since they dragged us to live on that farm.

[He can't complain too loudly. Felix sure is happy about it.]

On the one hand, Bonnie wasn't in danger of being knocked off her feet by Emeralda because she was fluttering along anyway. However what happened instead was a slight more violent as the moogle is spent tumbling and spinning through the air before she's suddenly caught.

"Kupoooo~" Bonnie rocked dizzily as she tried to regain her bearings, but the last words filter through and her ears twitched as she sat up in the girl's arms. "Running away? Did they do something bad, kupo?"

To be fair, I only used that one the once... on the last council meeting I attended in person.

[He regrets absolutely nothing about it, too. Poor Clarus.

He ponders the question for a moment as he considers it, humming under his breath.] Best view would be on the airships, honestly.

[And the fact he's mentioning it should mean something.]

"Kupo, I think Ramza had it back on Crystallis, if I'm remembering correctly." Bonnie frowned, dabbing her paw to her head. She was mostly sure about it. "Mary said he got it when that weird sword thief threw it at him, I think, kupo..."

The moogle then turned to face Sasami more properly and pumped her paws enthusiastically, "But I'm sure you can be a hero if you work hard, kupo!"

There was a small crowd of moogles gathered and the focus of their attention was...not his moogle and not Bonnie either. While Bonnie was checking out a nearby booth, Kuvon decided to take a moment to practice. While the eccentricity of moogles was nothing new, least of all to themselves, the sight of a moogle in dance tights practicing ballet while he waited still ranked particularly curiously.

Nearing the end of his practice routine, the moogle leaped, twirled and landed deftly, trying to keep a stern and confident expression through the soft pattering of applauding paws.
