[Shi reads the poem perhaps too intently. He did his best with writing, but the reading is just as tense for him. After all, he would like to make friends here and get to come again... and also, poetry is hard. Harder than he'd expected.

As he finishes, he looks up at Hunk nervously.]

U-Um... Is this about being a knight? Are you a knight to a castle?

Well... [ He furrows his brow. ] Kind of! My team and I were Paladins, which are different from the ones here. We had these awesome warships and our home base was a castle that could fly in space.

[ He says this so matter-of-factly that it sounds like he's said this stuff all the time. ] So I tried putting some of that stuff in my poem. [ A beat. ] It's also about cooking, because I love cooking.

In space? Like, where the stars are?

[Shi looks down at the poem again, giving it another read over.]

Sharing poems with everyone here is so strange. We all come from such different worlds that I bet our poems all have really different meanings. I've never even thought about castles in space before.

You must have been super busy.

It was pretty stressful sometimes, but space was pretty cool. [ Hunk starts grinning. ] You think your world is interesting and full of stuff, but then it turns out there's tons of other worlds out there, all with their own people and cultures and food.

[ He wants to mention that he's pretty much used to people trying to kill him because of all that space travel, but... Shi's a bit on the meek side. Instead... ] Was space a big part of your home world? Or was it mostly just the stars, sun, and moon?

I don't know if my home is very interesting. The things here are really different... Everyone is a lot nicer to me here, too.

[He shakes his head.] I know there's a Kami of Space... There are a lot of mysteries about the stars, and the sun, and the moon too, so they're still ruled by Kami. Once humans solve the mysteries of the world, they take them away from Kami and the Kami dies. Do you have Kami in your world anymore, or did they all die?
chefbayardee: (I appear to have hecked up)

[ There's a slight frown at the admission that people are nicer here. Sounds like Shi has a pretty cruddy world. ] I don't think we have any Kami. [ But then his eyes widen a bit at what he might be implying, and Hunk just laughs awkwardly. ]

There's a lot of stuff that humans don't know, but aliens on other planets knew all that stuff and more. [ Is it possible for aliens to kill human Kamis by learning things about their world? Does the Kami of Gravity die whenever the first planet discovers gravity? ] And none of them ever mentioned any kind of Kami.
