I understand not wanting to participate, though not exactly since this was a voluntary thing to join, but could you have not ripped the page out of the book at the very least? Are you so pathetically incapable of pretending to participate that you can't even bring yourself to copy it to a paper to better cover your attempted lie? Books are valuable and important, don't desecrate them.
