Where: Hot springs in the Myste Aura mountains
What: A much-needed restful retreat. Maybe a little fun.

Myste Aura's mountains could be imposing to the uninitiated, but they also hid a great many wonderful secrets. One of those, Tidus had discovered, was the abundance of hot springs perfect for unwinding after a tough battle or game. Everyone had had a difficult month, so why not invite them over?

He knew none of the others had much experience in this city or its mountains, so he offered to meet the group in a central location and walk them up. It wasn't too difficult of a hike, and once they arrived they would find chilled shower stalls to each side and three springs for their use: two segregated and one co-ed.

In other words, the perfect setting for a day of rest and relaxation.

[ That's always a hard question to answer. ]

Ah, no. I haven't heard of that place. I kinda just drift around, to be honest with you.

Is this America place where you're from?

[righthandstand]

You never heard of it?

[An eyebrow comically rises with that question. Everyone has heard of America unless they're from...the future.]

Holy shit, is America gone when you're alive? Everything blew up, and you're just walking through a desert wasteland like in Mad Max?

[ What? ]

Um- I don't know? I don't know who Mad Max is. And a lot of things have blown up over the years.

[ But America wasn't one of the planets so- He shrugs. ] Maybe? I mean, we could also just be from different places. Maybe America never existed where I'm from.

[righthandstand]

Nah, we gotta be from the same planet.

[Sparks Nevada was from the future and from Earth. Uendo is from America. Lots of people from Japan.]

Otherwise [he grins.] if American never existed, you'd be from the past!

[ Huh. That's a thought. ] Maybe. I've met people from my past, so it could be possible.

Why do you think we're from the same place, though?

[righthandstand]

Uh, you're human? [He scowls.]

[ ...? ]

I've met humans here who aren't from the same place I'm from?

[righthandstand]

[Finn has blown Okuyasu's mind.

Possibly literally, seeing that he's standing in the middle of the trail with his jaw dropped.]

Like aliens?!

[But Hunk should also be from Earth! He said he was from Earth even though he visited space? What is even happening?]

Yeah? [ Aliens are like an everyday thing for Finn so, uh, yeah. ] I mean, people come from all sorts of places, you know?

[ This conversation is going to end up being a miscommunicated disaster. It's amazing. ]

[righthandstand]

But how do you know they're actually human, not something weird that looks human or can change their appearance so we don't get scared?

[They won't lay their eggs in their stomachs or brutally murder them, only aliens that look like bugs do that.]

[ Finn thinks about it for a second and then shrugs. ]

Where I'm from, it doesn't really matter all that much. Or, well, they people I worked for only, uh, hired humans. I'm sure they had some way of categorizing everyone.

[ Probably something horrifying... ]

[righthandstand]

So...

[The big question that's been hanging in the air.]

Where are you from?

[hatejakku]

[ Walked himself right into that corner. ] That's kinda hard to say? I'm from a galaxy that's not this one, I know that much. We would travel between planets and systems... I mostly grew up on ships. [ He shrugs because that's not an entirely weird thing in his galaxy. ]

[righthandstand]

Isn't that bad for your bones? I saw a documentary about astronauts, and they said that staying out in space for too long ruins your bones or something.

[He's pretty sure that's how it works. He hopes he remembered that right.]

[ Finn has got to get used to the weird directions this guy takes conversations. What's he on about now? ]

I- No? Not as far as I know. Do you know why your... astronauts said that? [ He's never heard that term before either. ]

[righthandstand]

It has to do with biology. [If only Koichi were here to explain it...Man, he misses having a smart friend.] Something with gravity, I think...

The gravity? The ships I was on were able to keep the same gravity as most planets. There was no worry about that sort of thing. I do know what you're talking about now, though.

[righthandstand]

So the gravity pointed to the middle of the ship or to the floor?

[He's seen movies that do it differently, and while he won't understand the science behind it, it gives him a better picture of where Finn grew up.

Slowly, they are coming closer to the hot spring resort.]

[hatejakku]

The floor. [ And Finn's full-on smiling now. Okuyasu wasn't so bad after all. He seemed okay. ] You guys do a lot of space exploration where you're from? [ Because apparently some people here never left their planet. It sounded really nice.

And yes, he's very happy to finally see the hot springs now. ]

[righthandstand]

Nah. Some people got to the moon, but that's it.

[Okuyasu can probably shut up once he has something else to focus on.]

So that does mean you're from the future.

Maybe I am. Since I've never heard of Earth, it's hard to say. It kind of makes sense, though.

[ Maybe they're all from the same place but a different time. Plausible enough. ]
