Where: Hot springs in the Myste Aura mountains
What: A much-needed restful retreat. Maybe a little fun.

Myste Aura's mountains could be imposing to the uninitiated, but they also hid a great many wonderful secrets. One of those, Tidus had discovered, was the abundance of hot springs perfect for unwinding after a tough battle or game. Everyone had had a difficult month, so why not invite them over?

He knew none of the others had much experience in this city or its mountains, so he offered to meet the group in a central location and walk them up. It wasn't too difficult of a hike, and once they arrived they would find chilled shower stalls to each side and three springs for their use: two segregated and one co-ed.

In other words, the perfect setting for a day of rest and relaxation.

[Tidus greets everyone who asked him for help with navigation. It's a good walk up, but not too taxing. The views, though? They're awesome. The air's a little cooler as they ascend, but there will be plenty of warmth soon enough.]

b. chilling out

[Once things gets going, he settles in the larger spring in the middle, wearing his usual black swim trunks and his small silver pendant. He's content to relax quietly, or chat with whoever wants to, but sometimes? Sometimes he flicks his wrist underwater and casts a minor water spell, letting the water bubble pleasantly above his hand.]

[ Two good things: 1) Ena knew Tidus, and 2) he'd moved to Myste Aura before her. She was taking a job here and would need to get herself a place sooner or later. Who better to ask than an acquaintance that lived in the area? (the answer was a real estate agent, but that was irrelevant)

She she spots Tidus ahead and currently unoccupied with anyone else, she quickens her pace to stride up next to him. ] Greetings, Tidus. [ She's just slightly out of breath. ] I haven't seen you in a while. How've you been?

Ena, hey! Glad you could make it.

[He grins and waits for her to catch up.]

I'm good! Things are looking up with the team, and my new apartment's pretty nice. How about you?

[rivieran]

I'm doing all right. Thank you for asking. [ a small smile in return ] I'm actually taking a job at the library here in Myste Aura, so I'm hoping to move to the area soon.

[zanarkandian]

Oh, hey! That's great. I definitely wouldn't mind stopping by your library again.

[He smiled brightly, then continued.]

I'm here if you need any help moving, or if you want to take a tour. I like it here, even if it isn't the fanciest place.

[rivieran]

That would be lovely, Tidus. I will be sure to let you know when I plan on making the move.

[ Not the fanciest place, though? Ehhh... ] I was just going to ask you if you liked it here. Whereabouts are you living now? What is your house like?

[zanarkandian]

Most of the housing seems to be near the waterfront. It's all pretty simple, wood on stilts, because they've had to rebuild after floods a few times. But you can't beat the view, and the bathrooms have huge baths if that's your kind of thing.

[Gotta keep those Zora and Hypello feeling well, after all.]

Everyone's been pretty nice, though!

Hmm. [ Ehhh... after her last experience underwater, Ena wasn't too thrilled to hear about that, but what could she do about it? She wasn't to excited to hear about the simple housing either, but she would just have to make do. Oh well. ]

Well, that's nice to hear. [ She wouldn't want to deal with a rude population, after all. ] So, whereabouts is your apartment located, then? Is it also on the waterfront?

[zanarkandian]

It's a little further up, near the gym my team uses. I'm always ready to head up there at a moment's notice.

They'd probably give you one near the library, and it should be inland. They don't want the books to get flooded, y'know?

[rivieran]

I suppose that makes sense. I take it your team is sponsoring your house then?

[ ... ]

Because I don't think the library is for me. But you're right. I don't want to be flooded, either. [ Especially since she can't swim. ]

[ Hunk's gone with a pair of white-and-yellow swim trunks, as close to the shades on his Paladin armor as he can manage. The color scheme's grown on him. But as much as he tries to think of Vaikuntha as a vacation from his universe-defending, it... hasn't been great at that lately.

So a trip to some hot springs is exactly what he needs. The hike was easy enough, but as Hunk gets ready to head into the spring, he notices those bubbles near Tidus's hand. But knowing this place... ]

Those bubbles aren't coming from tiny little monsters, right Tidus?

[zanarkandian]

[Hey Hunk, long time no see! Tidus lifts his hand in greeting, flashing a little guilty smile at him. He casts up a small water bubble and watches it evaporate.]

Monsters? Nah. Just me practicing.

It's...still kinda weird. I didn't think being a ninja would involve black magic, but it's probably the most useful thing I've learned from them. I just wish I'd paid more attention when the black mage I knew back home was trying to teach us stuff.

But I'll lay off, promise. Come on in, water's fine!

[chefbayardee]

[ As soon as Tidus said the bubbles weren't from monsters, Hunk already started delicately lowering himself into the hot spring. ] See, the weird magic person I knew back home couldn't throw fireballs or lightning bolts.

[ Other, scarier people could, but... ignoring that. ] She healed a planet once, but I guess that's not black magic. [ Hunk laughs awkwardly, before sliding the rest of the way in. And wincing. It's hot!! ]

Could you even pick up black magic back home, or is it one of those weird chosen one things? [ Magic seems like it's picky. ]

Anyone can learn it, some people are just naturally better at it than others. Kinda like here, I guess, except we had to choose the asterisks.

[He's leaning back and closing his eyes now, letting that heat sink in.]

But magic's one of those things that's different everywhere, right? The element chart isn't the same, it's just. Maybe I should've signed up for what you did. How's it going?

[ Hunk starts fidgeting a bit. He wasn't aware of just how hot the spring was until he was in it. It's in the name, dude. ]

I've been doin' pretty well! [ He ignores the whole "Bit Into Leviathan" thing and the fact that there's a serial killer hunt and, well, everything else. And then he just sinks into the water a bit more. He needed this months ago. ]

Magitek Knight is pretty cool, but the armor's heavy. I needed floaties to swim with it. [ And then he pouts. Whatever asterisks you've got, Tidus, they seem like they're working out just fine. ]

We didn't even really have magic in my world. [ Ignoring his friend with weird life magic and the evil space witch. Not exactly normal occurrences. ] But there was a planet of people who could interact with trees like they were computers, that was cool!

I can believe that. The trees in this one spot had pretty powerful magic. They're ancient, if they knew stuff they'd know everything.

[He grins.]

Yeah, I couldn't do heavy armor. Running up the walls is awesome.
